Fire Alarm
Manual Pull Station
Also called: pull box, manual station, MPS, fire alarm box
A person pulls the handle to start the alarm. Conventional stations close a dry contact on an initiating circuit; addressable stations have a built-in module and report their own address on the SLC.

Install & code notes
- Operable handle 42-48 in above the floor (NFPA 72).
- Within 5 ft of the entrance to each exit on every floor.
- No more than 200 ft travel distance to a station on the same floor.
- Add stations so a wide group opening (over 40 ft) has one on each side.
- Protective covers (e.g. STI Stopper) are allowed where stations get false-pulled; the cover must not block operation.
